Today is a sad day for the Pets Overload home. Unfortunately, we’ve lost one of our family members Flub. We’ve had Flub for just over a year and he will greatly be missed.
Flub was a red Betta fish who we so happened to adopt when a woman tried to return him to the pet store I used to work at. She frantically tried to give my old manager a bag with him and all of his belongings and my boss insisted that the frantic customer keep him and take good care of him. The manager called me that evening asking if I could take him home and love him as my own, and I immediately bought a fish tank for him and gave him the best home I could provide for him.
The past few days we knew Flub wasn’t feeling the best. He wasn’t swimming much and stayed near the bottom of his tank. Even though I tried to feed him, he didn’t want food and although the signs were there, I didn’t think this would be the end of his life.

Taking care of Flub (and Blub) has taught me a lot. They have taught me how to be responsible for a living creature that can’t tell you when they’re hungry and don’t tell you if they’re feeling sick.
Both have kept our little Beau entertained for hours, as he commonly chooses to sleep next to them at night. He has spent countless hours watching them and keeping them company. Beau has never been aggressive towards them and I know he’s going to miss seeing his brother swim for hours and hours.
Flub will be the first fish of mine to pass. I’ve had fish pass at the store before, but it doesn’t feel the same since Flub was one of the family. He’s lost a lot of his colour and his scales have opened and have changed colour. It’s a bit sad to see.
At first, I didn’t believe that he was gone. I tapped on the glass a few times to see if he would swim, but nothing. My little one is gone.
You will be missed Flub. We loved you dearly. But your memory will always be with us.
