Thankful Thursday: Finally finding a wet food Beau eats consistently!

Pet Parents & Pet Lovers,

We did it!! We finally found a wet food Beau is eating every day. We’ve been feeding Beau Performatrin Ultra’s Beef Stew for the past two weeks and the little guy hasn’t complained at all! I will admit, he doesn’t eat all of his wet food at once, and only eats about 3oz a day (as we still feed him dry kibble to make sure he’s occupied so he doesn’t chew/eat plastic or bedsheets) and it’s absolutely working!

It’s been a long adventure Pet Parents & Pet Lovers! We’ve tried so many things out such as the Fruitables Broth Series, which I still believe was one of the best purchases we’ve ever made. Before trying Fruitables Beau wouldn’t eat wet food at all. (Well except for the godsend La Isla Bonita by Weruva, but even this was a tasty concoction Beau wouldn’t eat daily, but a maximum of twice a week.) After mixing Fruitables with Performatrin Ultra’s Beef Stew (which he wouldn’t eat without) for a month we decided to see if he would eat the wet food alone… and guess what… he did! I guess introducing him to the base flavours of the wet food got him interested enough to eat it on it’s own. (We’re so proud of you Beau!)

Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the end of UTI’s for Beau, and we’re excited to try the same method out with other wet food to make sure that Beau doesn’t get bored!  (If that happens, I’ll be devastated.)

    Glad you found the ‘trick’!

I tried that broth product for Freckles (dog), but he was not at all interested. I do better making him broth myself…just boil the meat in water…let it cool and he laps it up…sometimes, MOL! He sure is one consistently inconsistent pup…And of course he doesn’t like the cooled off shredded meat etiher.

I still need to try to make broth by myself. I never boil meat when I cook. But, I could definitely try!

YAY! It’s always such a wonderful feeling to give our furbabies something they love. Bear’s a wet food grazer – which creates problems with Ellie because she’ll scarf down his wet food after she eats her own. I haven’t found a good solution for that yet. Years ago, I finally got Kitty eating again with a turkey flavored wet food … so I bought a TON of them every time they were on sale. And then suddenly, she refused to eat it at all. Then again, those extra cans were put to good use when I came across the path of a tiny homeless kitten (now known as Bear Cat) πŸ™‚

Aww! I’m glad that the cans came in helpful for Bear Cat !! <3

I don't know if you've heard of the feeders that only open to a specific cat's microchip. I've been hearing really great things about them, especially for multi-cat households.

That’s good news. Is that the dish you feed wet food in? It looks kinda claustaphobic. Cats get whisker fatigue if their whiskers run against the side of a dish. You should try a wider dish and he may eat more. It helped me.

Beau actually won’t eat from wider dishes. We’ve tried all different types, including plates, he likes pushing his food to the edge with his tongue. Super weird cat eh?

I know how hard it is to find a good food for a cat β€” that the cat will agree is good! That’s great news!

We’ll keep our paws crossed. Our mom knows that we can turn off any food at any moment and for no reason…just look at Caroline, Queen of the Picky.

CAROLINE GET WITH IT! Mommy doesn’t want to have to keep looking for new foodies! Do they ever like stuff they stopped eating after a few months?

So glad you found a good food that Beau enjoys. It is so worrisome when our little fuzzies don’t eat.

Of course, as a dog person, it’s something I’ve rarely seen. Generally, my dogs have never found a food they didn’t like.

I’m wondering if Beau is being fussy to keep you from taking him for granted. πŸ™‚

Hi Johnny! Good for Beau! That sounds like some real nom! Mom asks if that food has any turkey in it. Beef is something I can eat & I love it, but I’m allergic to a lot of moist foods ’cause they contain turkey and salmon & sweet potatoes. Purrs.

They actually don’t have Turkey or Salmon in this blend! Performatrin actually does a pretty good job with having limited ingredient/for sensitive cat blends as well, although I can’t recall if they are just in dog or not.

For sure! I’m surprised it’s been so hard to find one for Beau to be honest, since he will eat literally any treat or kibble!
