Hey Pet Parents & Pet Lovers,
I know I didn’t let you know that Walker wasn’t doing so well this weekend but in the chaos of losing another family member, I didn’t have time to write or even prewrite a posting about it.
Walker was having a bit of trouble with peeing around Thursday, and so we immediately look to helping him get more hydrated and actually even switched up his diet.
As you may know, my little ones have been primarily on a dry food diet ever since we got them. Wet food for Beau wasn’t an option until recently (as he wouldn’t touch it), and Walker showed no signs of trouble with dry kibble so we didn’t think we needed to change his diet.
In the past year, the two of them have shown signs of UTIs and luckily we’ve actually always caught it before it gets too serious.
It’s also weird to think that my sister’s cat Avery has never had a UTI and has been fed the exact same food as these two little guys, but somehow my guys are more susceptible.
In the heat of the drama and making sure Walker gets all the care he needs we’ve decided to increase his wet food intake. We’ve also been doing a lot of research into raw food & freeze dried raw to see if it would be the better option for our trouble case kitties.
I know a few of our readers are feeding raw, and I would love to know about your experiences!
We’re so happy Walker is feeling better, is active again and is peeing a lot more! But we’re really hoping we find a solution soon because we don’t want it to keep happening.
I guess it goes to show: you will always be trying out new things for your little ones, because as they grow older more problems may arise that you will have to learn about.
My goodness, two kitties with similar issues. Sheesh. Glad he is doing better though.
Odd, eh? It’s extremely odd that both my kitties have had Urinary issues, but my sisters cat (who is also male and has been fed the exact same things) hasn’t at all!

Glad to hear Walker is feeling better.
We’re glad too <3
YAY! We’re glad Walker is feeling better! It seems so random sometimes … same circumstances, extreme difference in outcomes. I wish it was more black and white. Last time I thought about switching Bear’s food, I quickly became overwhelmed with all the options and opinions.
For sure. We’re currently dealing with this with Beau now š he’s in the hospital, but we’re really hoping that this will clear it for good.

Glad to hear Walker is better (healing purrs for him) so sorry about the loss of you family member, purrs of comfort and paws of sympathy for your loss.
Thank you for all of this <3
I am sorry that Walker was sick, I am glad he is feeling better.
Thank you, we’re definitely glad he’s doing better
Could be the brand of dry food (ingredients) too. We’ve found Science Diet (any flavor) works for us.
He’s actually on the C/D Science Diet like Beau is, but I guess he had a bit of a relapse. We’re adding more wet food into his diet though which should help!
We’re glad Walker is doing better. Dry food solely is probably not the best diet. We get wet food and just a little bit of dry as a snack. Ernie eats the freeze dried raw food, but the other two won’t touch it.
We’re actually looking into the freeze-dried raw now since he’s already been supplemented with wet food. Hopefully it’s a good option!
We’re so glad Walker is feeling better ! We transition to raw food last year, you can read our experience on our blog (several posts here https://www.swisscatblog.ch/en/tag/raw-feeding-en/). Purrs
We’re actually writing a post about how we’re thinking about the transition! Stay tuned for Sunday’s post!
I am sure glad Walker is doing better, those pee problems are no fun at all. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Glad that he’s getting much better! No problem, thanks for hosting as usual <3
Glad to hear that Walker is feeling better! The last time Angel came down with a UTI was directly related to stress, because I was transporting her often to the holistic vet. Once I realized that the health benefits of the holistic variety were outweighed by her stress, we stopped going, and she hasn’t had another UTI since. Chuck got a couple of UTI’s during the times I was out of work. Am pretty sure it wasn’t that I was home…it was my (and The Hubby’s) stress levels that he picked up on, as I was searching for gainful employment. Just something to think about.
Yeah we definitely need to make sure the little ones don’t get stressed out. I’m wondering whether or not it has been stress related, but it’s hard to tell, you know?
