VIDEO: Beau Wants to Go Outside

June 13, 2017 By Johnny Salib 8 Comments

Hey Pet Parents & Pet Lovers,

About a year ago I moved from a house to an apartment, making sure to bring Beau along with me. Beau was primarily an indoor cat who was taken out on a harness every once in a while.

Beau, like most cats loves being outside, so the switch from living in a house to apartment was a bit scary for me (as it meant less space for Beau to play and no grass for Beau to play in.)

Kenny and I spent a lot of the summer on our balcony together. Beau, being the needy cat that he is, didn’t like that we kept him inside and would paw at the balcony window endlessly. So, we thought: “Hey! Why not get Beau back in his harness!” After a few times of taking Beau outside we noticed he actually just wanted some fresh air and to spend his time with us, so we stopped putting the harness on him and made sure to have him understand that he was only allowed to go out with us.

I decided to make the balcony a bit more of a treat for Beau. so I bought some Oat Grass and grew it in a pot for him. We had previously grown some Oat Grass for Beau as a vet recommended it to help keep occupied since he’s prone to chewing, especially when board.

This worked really well for Beau, and he was excited to be let out once a day for some fresh air and yummy grass.

This year we hope to do the same, but I think we’re also going to make a little bed for Beau outside. He’ll still only be allowed out when we’re there, but since I work from home I think it would be a nice idea to spend it outside with the little one! (Maybe I’ll be able to get more writing done since I’ll be away from the internet and the hundreds and hundreds of cat videos on it šŸ˜‰ )

On that note, I hope you enjoy this little video made last year… which reminds me I need to get some new footage of the little buggers soon!

So, does Beau upchuck the grass while still on the balcony, or does he wait to do it inside? LOL! I love to watch cats stretch their front ends, then stretch their back legs…

He actually doesn’t upchuck the grass surprisingly! He used to when he first started to eat the grass, but I think he’s learned to moderate himself a bit more. Very weird, eh?

And I absolutely love that too! Makes me want to squeeze them!! <3

I like to go outside but I can only go if I’m in my harness and on a leash. Check me out tomorrow…you’ll see me in action! ~Wally

We let our cats out on our balcony that overlooks our backyard. It’s only one one story up, but we still took precautions in case they got any ideas! Glad that Beau is able to get outside again.

For sure! If Beau wasn’t as good as he is, I would definitely always have him on a harness when going outside. See, it’s Walker I don’t trust… he’s the one I know will absolutely do something crazy!
