Who else feels like they don’t play with their little ones enough? I know I do! It’s not a great feeling, eh? So, I’ve been on the hunt for some automatic toys for Beau and Walker. You know for those really busy days.
Along the way I found the PetSafe Bolt Interactive Laser Cat Toy and honestly, I think it’s a decent buy.
Walker has been a fan of lasers his whole life, so we knew there was a high chance of him using it and staying interested. Beau on the other hand doesn’t seem to care about the laser. We’re actually not sure if he can see lasers. But let’s to the point:
PROS
The Frolicat has a large range in motion.
- The laser shoots in about a 1 meter radius
Walker immediately started playing with it
- Sometimes it can be tough to get Walker interested in toys, even if they’re made out of materials that he is already used to.
It’s not very loud, and doesn’t scare the cats
- Walker even goes up to sniff it every so often
The build is light and small so you can place it on the floor or on a bookshelf to increase the range
You also have the option to change the laser into manual and to alter the direction/height of the laser
It’s honestly a pretty great price for what it is
CONS
Sometimes the laser gets out of reach for Walker making him sit and watch instead of jump for it
The laser pattern becomes predictable and is almost always in continuous motion which loses Walker’s interest at points
Lowest range for the laser is actually inside of the toy meaning that the laser actually gets blocked when you lower the range
If the toy is placed at your pet’s eye level your pet may look directly into it, thus causing blindness
All in all, I think that this laser pointer is an average buy for cats / dogs that are interested in laser pointers. It scores a solid 3.5/5 for me. Walker is still playing with it 3 months later, but there are definitely some design flaws that need to be looked at.
