Kitties are you enjoying the sun? (Cat Photos)

August 24, 2018 By Johnny Salib 18 Comments

Hey Pet Parents & Pet Lovers,

As you already know, it’s been a bit of a rough week for us, so there aren’t too many photos to share this time around. Beau has, in fact, started eating more, which is great news, but it doesn’t mean we aren’t worrying about him.

We’ve noticed that Kalista is getting a lot more interested in Beau’s food and we’re wondering if that’s a reason Beau doesn’t want to eat. Beau is one of the sweetest cats ever who often offers his food to other cats. He used to do the same thing with Walker, but with both of them being on specific food, that’s not a possibility.kalista-by-door-window

We’ve been trying to feed them in separate rooms, which is very difficult for me since you have to actually sit with our cats to get them to eat and 2/4 of the feedings I’m alone… and if you’re in a room feeding one of the cats the other cat starts pawing at the door crying, distracting the first cat. HOW. ANNOYING!

If any of you have any advice on that, please let me know! Right now I’ve been managing fairly well by feeding them on opposite sides of the room, but it’s still super hit and miss. I just wish my partner worked from home, but… we can’t all be that lucky!kalista-lying-on-floor

Beau and Kalista have been loving the sunroom. Actually, if I leave it open at night they won’t even come to bed and will sleep with each other in there. Which is super cute, but… I want my kitty cuddles! kalista-scenting-door

Other than that, no real major updates. I’ll make sure to take more photos next week! (Just as long as everything starts going back to normal!)

Chili Bruce eats FAST, so he often will push Manny off of his bowl, so we humans police the situation and distract CB. It amazes me that he just let’s his brother eat all of his food! With The “O’ Cats, The POM will chase Sweetie off of her bowl, so I’ve tried to give him more in his bowl, and she less. It’s a game that I don’t always win, but I cannot do much more for them…except encourage a mouse hunt!

It’s so odd to hear when kitties are passive and let other kitties eat their food since you always hear about them being territorial about their food.

I wish I had advice on feeding two cats. When I adopted Bear, he would not leave Kitty alone and she’d back off just so he’d leave her alone. I tried closing her in a room – but Bear tore up carpet and made her even more nervous. Plus, she wasn’t interested in eating really unless I was there. Cats are such fascinating creatures!

I feel you on that. Beau and Kalista both don’t like eating unless one of us is in the room. They claw at the door or cry and just won’t eat.

Such cuties. It is hard to keep kitties from stealing meals from one another. Other than keeping them in separate rooms with one closed in, I have no other ideas.

All good Ellen! I’m hoping we get the trick of it. I think we’re going to try changing up their feeding schedule to make sure they are fed all four times when we’re both home.

Caroline gets fed on one kitchen counter, and Elliott the other counter. The boys eat on the floor. The reason why I started that was because Izzy would try to eat everybody’s food, although he has learned to wait until Ivan walks away before horning in on his bowl. (I usually grab that up before Izzy can get to it, because really, he does not need any more food!) Anyway, that might work for you, and you’d be able to keep an eye on both as they eat.

I’ve tried feeding them on different counters, but they would still switch and eat each other’s food. It’s so silly!!

Hi! You may want to try a microchip feeder. I follow Chris & Eve on YouTube and they dealt with a similar situation with their cats. It seems to have solved the problem. 🙂

I’ve been thinking about that, I just haven’t looked too deep into it yet. However, Beau has to eat only wet food and we’re trying to encourage Kalista to mostly eat wet as well. I’ll have to see if the feeder can allow for wet feeding. (I don’t see why it wouldn’t as long as we clean it out and only leave the food in there for 30-minutes!) Thanks for the suggestion!

Such adorable photos. We never have trouble getting the kitties to eat, except for Giulietta. They all eat together (each with his/her own bowl), except Sawyer who is very territorial. Sounds as if you have your hands full. Good luck. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

Thank you for the compliment friends! I’m glad you don’t have problems with your cats! I never used to when it was just Beau and Walker, but it seems like Kalista and Beau are an odd coupling when it comes to feeding! haha

I have to feed mine separately too but fortunately, none of them seem too interested in the others so it works out okay.

That’s good to hear! Do they all eat the same food or do they all have specific foods as well?
