Hey Pet Parents & Pet Lovers,
I thought I would do something different this weekend. Instead of doing a regular photo dump, I want to take more time to let you know about my pets.
These past few weeks have been a bit hard for our family because I’ve been away from home a lot more than usual. The cats had a rough first week, but they seem to be adapting to my new schedule fairly well. Since then, we haven’t had very many incidents. I’ve also been making sure to leave some calming music on for them while I’m gone.
So, I thought, why not share some of the things I love about them while I’m on my way to work!
Beau is a creature of habit. He likes to sleep at the same time each day. He likes to come to bed with us at the same time each day. He likes to play at the same time each day. Most importantly he likes to eat at the exact same time each day.
Whenever his feeding times roll around he marches around, doing the little scream that he does. But ever since we’ve moved he’s been doing a new adorable thing.
If Beau is hungry he will march into the kitchen. He puts on a smug look and slowly gets onto a stepping stool and meows at us, looking us deep in the eyes as if to say, “you’re starving me.”
It doesn’t matter how much Beau has eaten if he’s not fed at the same time each day he gets mad! He’s like a little alarm clock to let you know what time of day it is.
If you don’t notice Beau in the kitchen immediately, say you’re in another room or you’re taking a nap, he will come up to you and put his paw on you gentle and just stare at you. It’s quite an adorable interaction.
It’s a pretty cute look he gives you because his eyes are so round and big. He’s the cat that can get you to do almost anything for him. He’s just so cuddly, and sweet. Honestly, I can’t stop bragging about how much my cat suits me.
I’ve been missing this little guy whenever I’m gone, and I can always depend on him being on his stool right from the moment I put my knapsack down.
So, pet parents, what are some of your cat’s habits before feeding time? Do they do something every day that lets you know it’s time to eat? Let me know in the comments below!
My cats are grazers so they always have both wet and dry food out. But my little dude always comes and gets me to stay with him when he eats. I googled it the other day and it is not uncommon. I read that “while eating cats are vulnerable. They are focused on eating, so they are less aware of their surroundings. Skittish cats are particularly prone to wanting their human to be near when they are in this vulnerable position. ” Who knew, I thought he was just weird. …LOL
I wish Beau was a grazer. He’s one of those cats who will eat anything in front of him, even if he’s already full. He’d also much rather eat Kalista’s food than his own, even if she has less than him. He’s a weird one…
That is a cute story 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
When I’m really hungry and the mom isn’t out of bed yet, I will jump on the bed and crawl up and stare at her until she wakes up and gets up and feeds me. Sometimes I’ll paw her head to get her to wake up if my staring doesn’t work. ~Ernie
Hahaha! Sounds about right Ernie! I think you’ve figured out the secret on how to get your hooman to get up!
Pipo loves to swirl around me at my desk and paw at me to remind me it is time for y nightly bedtime treat…and sometimes even if its not even bedtime, MOL! When he hears the crackle of the treat bag or the sound of pulling off the lid from the wet food, he jumps into the box, (He has an old box to keep Dalton out), and mrouws at me until I bring the goods. Woe is me if I get delayed…he scowls and mrouws as only a meezer can do, MOL!
