As you may already know, it took Beau a while to warm up to our new place. At our last place, we had very large floor-to-ceiling windows that he could look out of even while sleeping/napping, however, in this apartment our windows aren’t nearly as big.
I originally thought the cats would be spending plenty of time on our window sills, but it seems to be quite the opposite. Instead, our cats have moved from the windows onto more comfy places like our bed, their designated cat beds, or whenever we’re around our laps (well, Beau on both of ours and Kalista only with my partner).
This week, Beau has taken a firm liking to the window in my office. I guess something just clicked in him and he realized how spectacular our view is.
For those of you who aren’t followers of my personal blog, you may have missed my moving in post, but the photo above is the view from my office. Luckily, my office has the biggest window in the whole apartment (about double, if not more, the size of our other windows) so it makes sense why Beau has chosen to make this his new hang-out area.
I think what really got Beau interested in the window is how many pigeons have been flying by (probably due to the weather changing.) As soon as Beau hears a bird fly by he jumps face first into the window trying to catch what’s on the other side and even though he always misses his chance for an extra snack, he chooses to sit there for hours at a time.
I’m thinking that my office is going to be the new home for our cat tree since it’s the room that gets the most light and it’s the best room to put such a large object. I just need to fix the walls from the damage left behind from replacing the windows
I really want to make sure that our cats are liking our new home and not missing the old one, especially if it’s something as silly as windows.
The thing I’m most happy about is it seems like Beau is choosing to sit on the window sill even though no birds are flying about. I’m guessing it’s the trees or the cars that drive by, but something is keeping his attention! Now, if only I can get Kalista to feel the same!
I’ve seen a bunch of window sill products like the K&H Pet Products Kitty Sill and K&H Pet Products EZ Mount Window Bed but I haven’t done too much digging to see if they are sturdy enough to hold our tubby kitty! So here’s where I ask you… do you have any advice on products that are sturdy to get your kitties by the window? I’m definitely going to start off with the cat tree, but it would be nice to have one in every room, just in case our kitties want to be with us! Let me know! But for now, I’m just so glad Beau is spending more time in the sun!
