Kitties are you scared of the contractors? (Cat Photos)

July 27, 2018 By Johnny Salib 10 Comments

Hey Pet Parents & Pet Lovers,

It’s been another busy week in the Pets Overload household since we’ve been getting our plumbing fixed due to new condo regulations. So our kitties have been doing a lot more bonding to keep each other protected.

Beau has really been taking the big brother role. He’s not really scared of new people and has been walking up to the contractors (which lead me to lock him in the office with me so he doesn’t get drywall dust into his system.)

Kalista, on the other hand, is being a scaredy cat as usual, but Beau is making sure she feels comfortable by checking up on her every so often and sitting next to her. When he noticed that she’s gone for too long, he goes searching for her (she likes hiding under the bed) and the other day I even found him sleeping under the bed with her (which is not normal for him.)kalista-and-beau-hiding

Beau doesn’t usually like being in enclosed areas. He doesn’t usually like things like cardboard boxes, so the fact that he would choose to be in a tight area for his sister is adorable and so sweet! Hopefully, our contractors get all their work done soon, because I’m always so sad to see my little one hiding and scared, but I don’t want to stress her out (especially not with people she’s never going to see again)  by bringing her out all the time.kalista-and-beau-hiding-2

She seems like she’s fine if doors are closed though, but if she hears the contractors speak she goes back into hiding. So by midway through the first day, I also kept her in the office and kept the door closed. (Which is what lead to them cuddling by the window. So very happy they’re getting along! It’s making life a lot easier! kalistas-face-by-window

This is a lovely story and one that my cats relate to. Shadow my middle cat will make friends with anyone who has a bag (she’s usually pretty nervous but loves bags of any description) Sox is out most of the time and misses their attendance but were she in she would either not take much notice or go into the bedroom, and Smudgie (if she’s in) is a very sociable cat and is curious about most people.

I don’t necessarily get scared as much as I get curious, darting my head back and forth, trying to figure out what all the noises are.

Ah ! That’s very different than Kalista. He definitely doesn’t want to know what the noises are.

I don’t give my cats a chance to get scared, I lock everyone up in the bedrooms.

I feel that. I couldn’t think of a way to lock them in the room since the contractors were going to go into every room except the office (where Gary lives, who Kalista likes to try to eat…) So it was a semi balancing act of making sure they stay in while I’m out of the office, but I’m not gone long enough to have Kalista go at Gary. >_< Multi-pet households!
