Top List of Our Favourite (And Inexpensive) Chinchilla Cages

May 31, 2018 By Johnny Salib 6 Comments

Hey Pet Parents & Pet Lovers,

After looking up the adorable hamster travel carriers you could get to take your little one to the vet, I started getting interested in what kind of Chinchilla homes we could invest in to get Gary a bigger home. For those of you who are Chinchilla owners this mega list may be of interest to you, but for those of you who don’t have Chinchilla cuties, I’m happy to let you know that tomorrow we’re posting lots more photos of our cuties! <3

Unfortunately, as a Chinchilla owner you may already know that good sized cages tend to be quite pricey, but this top list has some very reasonably priced cages you may want to grab! I’m going to arrange them from cheapest to most expensive, and only include ones that have gotten good ratings. Let’s get started!

chinchilla-cages

Yaheetech 37’’/52”Ferret Cage Indoor Small Animals Hutch with 2 Front Doors/3 Front Doors

This cage comes in two sizes and both are fairly affordable. I would recommend going for the 52″ cage, especially because your priority for Chinchillas is getting them height. They’re very bouncy creatures that will love you for the platforms you give them to jump on. The smaller cage is 25 x 17 x 36.5” (LxWxH) and the larger is 25.2 x 16.9 x 51.6’’ (LxWxH). Both include multiple doors, shelves and ramps for your little one to run around on. They also come with a water bottle and feeder. I would definitely check this one out for it’s price and it’s amazing rating (being one of the highest reviewed items online). The cage also comes in white.

Dreamhome Heavy Duty Chinchilla Cage with Urine Guard

This cage is smaller than the one above and comes at around the same price range. It sizes in at 24x17x38″ and features 3 stories. It also has two doors and has a few ramps for your little one to climb up on. Unfortunately it does not include a feeding tray or a water bottle, but those are fairly inexpensive to grab yourself if you like the dimensions of this one.

Prevue Hendryx Earthtone Dusted Rose Rat & Chinchilla Cage

This cage is shorter than the first one, but is much wider giving your Chinchilla lots of space to run around. It sizes in at 31″ x 20.5″ x 40″. It also has 3 levels, and has a large door on the front. It’s also one of the highest rated items on the list, but I still feel like the first one has it beat! (Although this is a better cage for homes with lower ceilings or if you have hung shelving.

Large Tall Double Stackable Wrought Iron Ferret Chinchilla Sugar Glider Small Animal Cage

This cage is meant for folks who have multiple small animals. It’s stackable, however it doesn’t seem like both levels can be connected to make a super tall cage for one little one. The dimensions are  30″ x 18″ x 74″H (including the stand), Total Cage: 30″ x 18″ x 63″H. Single Cage: 30″ x 18″ x 30″H. Each cage includes one door and the cages can be separated and folded up in case you only need one. They include both perches for birds and shelves with ramps for small animals. Quite a versatile cage if I say so myself!

Prevue Hendryx Black Feisty Ferret Cage

This is quite a large cage with 2 platforms and 3 ramps. It also includes a hammock and a grille, although I’m not sure how much your Chinchilla friend will use the hammock. It sizes in at 31″L x 20″W and 54″ Tall making it a great choice for Chinchillas. What I love the most is how large the doors are for you to reach in and clean the cage. It’s very similar to the cat cages you find in adoption centers and is built durably!

Prevue Pet Products 484 Deluxe Critter Cage, Dark Gray

Another great sized Chinchilla cage, although it comes at a much steeper price. It sizes in at 37’’ L x 23 1/8’’ W x 63 3/8” H and features 5 shelves with 3 ramps and a hammock. There are two entry doors on the front of the cage, Definitely a good choice for a cage.

MidWest Homes for Pets Ferret Nation | Deluxe Ferret Nation Cage & Ferret Playpen

I’m a huge fan of the spacing on this cage. Your Chinchilla would be able to use the whole cage instead of having wasted space above shelves. You can also stack on as many layers as you want on this cage and choose to purchase layers one buy one or together. Our pet store actually used this cage for kittens (since they were still able to get to the top layer, and it was sturdy enough if they charged the doors. As a double story it sizes in at 36″L x 25″W x 62.5″H and features 4 shelves with 3 ramps. Definitely the most expensive one, but rated at the absolute highest!

So Chinchilla lovers, have did you see a cage you fell in love with? Which cage are you using, or hoping to use? I’d love to check more out!

I like the Yaheetech just because more ramps for Gary to go run. All very good choices. And hopefully it is skinny in width.

I love that one too! I think it’s also a great way to save on horizontal space. Trying to see if it will ship to Canada 🙂

I like the stackable, double-tall cage! Who knew there were so many to choose from, and how great it is! Something for every budget.

Absolutely! That’s something I learned from having a hamster. You can always get a suitable cage, it’s just how hard you look and if you’re ready to spend some time making it yourself!
