REVIEW: Bravo! Healthy Medleys (All Natural Mariner’s Medley Treats for Cats)

February 1, 2018 By Johnny Salib 8 Comments

Hey Pet Parents & Pet Lovers,

You may already know how much I love treats with simple ingredients and Bravo! has done a great job with these treats. I was sent a sample of their Freeze-Dried all Natural Treats and so far Beau and I are absolutely loving them.

Ingredients

Salmon, Cod & Shrimp.

Guaranteed Analysis

Crude Protein (min) 70%
Crude Fat (min) 1%
Crude Fiber (max) 1%
Moisture (max) 1%

The Packaging

Funny enough, opening this package was really difficult for me. I know this is an odd thing to put in the review, but when I used to the cut where you’re supposed to open it ripped completely above the resealable strip. It made me wonder if other people have had that problem. (I know I’ve had some issues with packages made out of thicker plastic in the past, but it’s hardly an issue if you choose to open it with scissors right off the bat.) The seal seems very strong (unlike a lot of other treat packages) so you’re gonna have no issues with freshness.

The Human’s Thoughts

I’ve always been a fan of freeze-dried treats. They are one of the only treats I feel comfortable giving Beau since again, they usually have simple ingredients and don’t have preservatives, by-products or additives. As soon as I opened the bag I immediately smelled the shrimp, which made me smile because the treats smell delicious! I don’t know if any of you have had those Asian shrimp chips, but they smell very similar to that! The pieces are already a good size, kind of the shape of croutons, although these treats are easily breakable if you want to make them smaller for your little one. We didn’t tell Bravo! what Beau’s favourite meats were, so it’s funny that they sent us the Salmon, Shrimp & Cod Recipe. Salmon has always been Beau’s favourite protein, with shrimp as a very close second, so he immediately came running as soon as he could smell the treats and didn’t want to stop eating!

Perks of Feeding these Treats

  • They are Grain & Gluten Free
  • They avoid main allergens such as beef & chicken
  • There are no preservatives, flavours or colours
  • The meats are raised without added antibiotics and hormones
  • They are made in the USA and source internally although some ingredients come from New Zealand & France which is pretty common in pet foods.
    • Why is this important? No bad rep to China, but sometimes you can’t trust pet foods & treats from there. Be very cautious about where your treats & foods come from and what’s inside of them. Our house policy is: toys and other knick-knacks (as long as they aren’t feathers or something your kitty may chew on) can be from China, but our food is either Canadian sourced or from the USA.
      • Remember your kitty is a lot smaller than you, so food effects their bodies a lot differently. Just because your body can break down a lot of ingredients fast, doesn’t mean that theirs can. Cats can get illnesses such as diabetes a lot faster than humans can, and you need to be careful what you feed them!

Beau’s Expert Thoughts

They’re yummy. Beau has been sniffing at the bag ever since they made their way into our house and was so happy when he got the chance to grab at them. The opening of the bag is too small for him to get at the food so it provides that extra safety from kitties who try to stick their heads in treat bags to get to the very bottom. They’re also tasty enough for him to run after! If you didn’t already know, sometimes to give our kitties extra exercise we have them chase their food. It’s a little trick we first discovered with Walker because he loved to fetch toys and bring them back. We do the same thing for Beau, but it doesn’t always work out well, especially if he doesn’t like the treat and I have no fears that he will get bored of this treat!

Conclusion

All in all, I think this is an A+ treat! I would give it a full 5/5. Beau has had no complications so far, he shows no signs of allergies, and it hasn’t upset his tummy at all! Congrats Bravo for making such a yummy treat! Can’t wait to try more of your line!
