Hey Pet Parents & Pet Lovers,
I haven’t been spending as much time taking photos of our pets as of late and I’ve really missed it.
The cats haven’t been super active as of late, but they have been lounging around me for the hours that I am home with them. Each of them choosing to take one of the many beds we have laid out for them.
This week, Beau has been more favourable towards the cat tree and Kalista seems to be more interested in Beau’s bed… which kind of surprised us.
Last week was really the first week that it started happening, but it seems to be her favourite bed in our home right now.
I guess that’s the great thing about having so many different beds set up… the cats get to choose which one they prefer based on the sun and the weather! Sometimes the beds have been rolled up sweaters of ours or even paper on the floor.
I keep waking up with Kalista and Beau in bed now, which is a great way to get up. This morning Kalista was by my head and Beau was by my feet. I actually snapped one of the cutest photos of them together and posted it on my Instagram. They are truly two of the sweetest cats you could ever have.
I’m still a bit shocked how fast they bonded with one another and it’s even more adorable that they pretend they can be completely independent, but really rely on each other daily.
My partner and I have agreed that we think we would like to have up to 4 cats at a time, dependant on how well they all do together. The only worry I have is how well they will get along with one another, especially if these two are this close.
I don’t want a new cat to feel isolated, though I guess since these two are super bonded, we’d just have to find a cat who is more independent.
Well, that’s not for now anyway. We aren’t going to be adopting any new little ones anytime soon. We’re going to love and spoil the ones we have and see where the road takes us next. 
While taking photos of Kalista today, I noticed how much more she’s trusting us.
It really wasn’t too difficult for us to fall in love with her and for her to fall in love with us, it’s just… she’s very… jumpy.
It’s always been hard to take photos of Kalista because she’ll either leave her spot to come to rub herself against me, which I have to admit is absolutely adorable, but it makes it really difficult to get a good shot of Kalista.
She’s by far the harder cat to take pictures of because she’s just too curious! Not only that, but she’s also super insecure and will jump at any sound. Kalista has been known to be flighty and sometimes it’s difficult to get her comfortable enough.
This morning it was quiet enough to get her flipping on her back for some belly rubs, but every so often she would hear construction going on upstairs or someone in the hallways and get defensive.
I guess the thing about Kalista is she’s always ready to run. But the time it takes her to calm down after hearing the voice of a stranger is shortening. She’s becoming more like Beau, who only looks up if the noise is really bothering him or if he thinks it’s a threat.
At the end of the day, there are some really sweet photos that I’ve been able to grab of Kalista.
She is a really loving cat, who has one of the most beautiful faces. She’s bright and has lots of energy to spare, but when she sleeps she’s even more adorable… because it means we don’t have to chase her to find her!
