Taking Some Time Just to Be Grateful for My Pets (Cute Cat & Chinchilla Story with Pictures)

Hey Pet Parents & Pet Lovers,

Some weeks you just get extremely lucky and get two days off of work because the weather is just so bad. That week was this week.

I got to spend the time with all of my furry babies and man, oh man was I ever grateful for it.

These past two days, Kalista has been getting even more attached to me than usual. She’s been spending about 1/3 of her day in my lap, which is terribly sweet.

Kalista has done such a huge 180, and as much as I want to say I’m surprised… I knew it was in her to be a cuddler! She’s just such a sweet kitty who loves attention.

My partner is trying to get closer to Gary. We’re getting ready to prepare a “safe room” for him this weekend, in hopes of letting him run around and perhaps even play with us.

I haven’t actually looked up how Chinchillas have been known to play with humans or what tricks you can potentially teach them. So far it’s just been, let Gary out of his cage to let him jump around and stretch his legs.

I know what I’m going to spend tonight doing though! Onto learning more about interacting with chinchillas!spending-time-with-beau-couch-lying-down-sad-sleepy

Beau’s been having a bit of a weird week. There’s been a bit of growling and hissing coming from him.

The other day I woke up with him sleeping beside my legs. Usually, Beau sleeps between my legs, or by my side.

I went to pick him up and he immediately started growling at me. I got freaked out and thought that maybe he was in pain from not being able to pee or something.

But as soon as I picked him up and put him on my chest he started purring. Weird, right?

I’m wondering if somethings been going on between him and Kalista…spending-time-with-kalista-lap-2

I have been waking up with Kalista between my legs more recently…

This morning I actually thought Beau jumped into bed to sleep with me in the morning, but it turned out to be Kalista.

My worry is that Kalista has been marking us as her territory and it’s making Beau feel unwelcomed, but I’m sure that I’m just overreacting.

Beau and Kalista are still spending a lot of time together, it doesn’t seem like there’s any dominant behaviour going on and it might just be one of those months where the cats switch it up.

I’m curious though. For those of you who have multiple cats, do they ever change things up with you? Does one randomly start sleeping with you, or start cuddling with you? Is there one that is pretty much the Alpha? Let me know in the comments below!

Sorry, missed this yesterday. I’ve had a couple of ‘work from home’ days, due to bad weather, and although I do have to keep my office laptop going, I still enjoy being with the cats…even if they sleep the whole time! My constant coming and going confuses them, I think, and so they are hesitant to really engage with me. Which, of course, breaks my heart, yet I’m the breadwinner. The Hubby and I discussed this morning, how sometimes Manny and CB seem to get jealous of attention lavished on the other, and we both agreed that if we give some luvin’ to one, we’ll find the other cat in order to spread it around! And then there’s Angel, who meows and meows like she’s the loneliest cat in the world, then when we go to visit her, she runs and hides! Eeeks! Best to just smile and allow them to show us how they like to be treated, although it’s easier to type that to do!

I completely understand your cats being confused with the constant coming and going.

When my partner and I first moved in together I got a fairly full-time job, which wasn’t something Beau was used to. He started acting funny, but he seemed to adapt which is nice.

I’m wondering if my more consistent schedule has been one of the main reasons Kalista is becoming much more friendly with me. She’s been sleeping in my lap for the majority of today, which is really out of character for her.

As for “spreading the love” we’ve been trying to do that here too! I’m just so worried that even the slightest bit of jealousy will trigger one of Beau’s UTIs. Though, I’m really grateful none of that stuff has happened in quite some time!

Angel sounds like Walker. He’s overly talkative, but when you go to give him any attention he’s not really into it. He does like his occasional pet and brush, but only on his conditions!

Agreed with that, though sometimes it’s hard not to want to pick them up and cuddle!
